Meet the Horses

Our Herd

Eight Horses, Eight Personalities

Every horse at Horses and Hope was chosen with care — not just for their ability to be ridden, but for their temperament, their gentleness, and their capacity to connect with kids. Each one has taught us something about patience, trust, and grace.

Big Mags — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Big Mags

Educated & Determined

Big Mags knows her job — she's one of the most educated horses at the barn. But she has a personality, and she'll be the first to let you know it. Calm by nature, she asks just one thing of her rider: commitment. She needs someone who actually wants to move and will ask with intention. She's not stubborn so much as discerning — and when you earn her respect, she'll give you everything. A great match for a rider ready to develop real feel in the saddle.

Bomber — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Bomber

Barrel Racer at Heart

Bomber has a rare gift — he can meet a first-time rider exactly where they are and carry them with total patience, then turn around and challenge an advanced rider who needs something more. He's highly educated, endlessly versatile, and has more experience in this arena than almost any horse at the barn. Fair warning though: you can't take the barrel racer out of him. When he rounds that first corner, you'll feel it — and you'll probably love it.

Durango — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Durango

Blind & Brave

Durango doesn't let much slow him down — not even blindness. He moves through the world with a quiet, unshakeable trust, and that steadiness is something riders feel the moment they're in the saddle. Sturdy, reliable, and remarkably calm, he's one of the best horses at the barn for beginners who are just starting to find their confidence. His story is as inspiring as his ride.

Lovebug — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Lovebug

Kid Favorite

Lovebug earns her name every single day. She's hardy and trustworthy — a horse you can count on through and through — but she also brings a bounce and energy to the arena that keeps riders engaged. She'll teach independence and balance without it ever feeling like a lesson. And after the ride? She melts right into a grooming session like it's the best part of her day. Because it probably is.

Poco — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Poco

Bold & Advanced

Poco is a horse for riders who are ready for a real challenge. She's sharp, responsive, and full of personality — but she's more than just a challenge. Poco teaches you to listen. She demands focus and decisiveness from her rider, and she's not afraid to let you know when you're not being clear. She can be moody, she'll test you, and she is absolutely an advanced horse. But when you connect with her — when you earn her respect and really ride her — you'll feel what all those hours of groundwork have been building toward. She is not for the faint of heart, and that's exactly what makes her so special.

Tuff — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Tuff

Strong & Trustworthy

The name says tough, but Tuff has a big soft heart underneath it all. He's sturdy, dependable, and loves a good challenge — a great fit for riders who are ready to push their skills forward.

Highway — a horse at Horses and Hope in Talmo, Georgia

Highway

Spirited & Athletic

Highway is a standout in the arena — bold, athletic, and full of energy. He thrives with confident riders who can match his spirit. Getting to ride Highway is something students work toward and remember long after they leave the barn.

Forever in Our Hearts

Our Legacy Horses

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21

These horses passed away at the barn, but their memory lives on in every rider they ever carried. They gave everything they had to this place and to the people who loved them. We are grateful.

Dixie — legacy horse at Horses and Hope Passed Away

Dixie

Dixie came to the farm as a completely green horse — no experience with riders, no training. Macey and Ella built her from the ground up, and what they created was something special. She grew into a horse that could carry advanced riders and hold her own. Off the trail she was deeply in-your-pocket — snuggly, curious, always wandering over to someone in the field just to check in. She had a little sass to her too, which only made her more endearing. She is deeply missed.

Holly — legacy horse at Horses and Hope Passed Away

Holly

A gentle soul through and through. Holly was the horse who taught Macey the very foundation of caring for and loving a horse with respect — she was where it all started. She spent her final years totin' around baby nugs, the youngest and smallest riders at the barn, carrying them with patience and grace. In her later years Holly lost her sight, and eventually had to have one eye removed — yet she never stopped showing up and making a difference in people's lives. Even blind, she continued to teach what it means to trust. She is dearly missed.

Lil Mags — legacy horse at Horses and Hope Passed Away

Lil Mags

Small but mighty — Lil Mags carried decades of wisdom in that compact frame. Pony-sized but legendary, she served more kids than we could count, and she earned every bit of her status as the Barn Elder. Sweet-natured and full of heart, she'd teach you boundaries if you forgot your manners — because she had a personality and she was never shy about it. There was something about Lil Mags that her riders will never forget. She is deeply missed.

Mo — legacy horse at Horses and Hope Passed Away

Mo

Mo was the backbone of this farm. The staple of the barn. Irreplaceable in every sense of the word. If there's a definition of what a lesson horse should be — kind, nurturing, patient, motherly — it's Mo. She carried beginners and advanced riders with equal care, and for a long time she was simply the first horse you cantered on. For so many kids who came through these gates, Mo was their first real moment of trust with a horse. She is gone, but she is woven into the foundation of everything here.
